6 Highlights of staying with us | Zambezi Queen Collection

Meet Megan, the travelling writer. Megan loves adventure travel, especially in Africa, and equips and inspires other female solo travellers with the resources and know-how to go it alone too. Megan’s BIG life goal? To visit 30 countries before 30 – and guess what, she recently did it!

We had the pleasure of welcoming Megan to the Zambezi Queen Collection of properties earlier this year. In fact, she celebrated her 27th birthday onboard our Chobe Princess.

So, what does someone who’s already visited 30 countries before turning 30, have to say about staying with us? “They’ll be the most amazing days of your life!” says Megan.

Two for one: Hello Vic Falls!

Zambezi Queen Collection properties are just one hour away from Victoria Falls, so you can easily check off two bucket list items during one trip, says Megan.

Megan stayed at the beautiful Victoria Falls Safari Lodge. Here’s what she loved about staying here:

Top tip: Travellers can fly direct from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls Airport with Fastjet.

So close you can almost touch them

“One of the best moments of my life — watching herds of elephants crossing the Chobe River from Botswana to Namibia.”

There’s nothing quite like an African sunset

“It’s true what they say about African sunsets. I am not exaggerating when I say that in just a couple of days we saw hundreds of elephants.

If you are an elephant lover (like me!), you have to visit this incredible place, especially at afternoon and sunset when the elephants can be seen swimming across the Chobe River.”

The perfect place to celebrate in style

Megan celebrated her 30th birthday with a trip down the Chobe River sailing on one of our charming Chobe Princesses. Happy birthday, Megan!

Fit for a princess

Megan absolutely loved our Princesses. Here’s what she had to say about her stay onboard the Chobe Princess.

“Our boat drifted down the Chobe River, as I watched hundreds of elephants glide past my bedroom window and Namibia and Botswana float by.

On river safaris, we watched hippos, zebras, and giraffes graze in the bright grass on the river’s edge. Crocodiles and monitor lizards warmed themselves in the sun, and Kingfishers darted into the water.

There’s really nothing else like this kind of safari — where you get to STAY on the river, falling asleep to the music of nature and the singsong rhythm of the tide.

Feel the peace of the Chobe

“Ichingo Chobe River Lodge sits on a quiet bank of the Chobe River, secluded beneath the shade of trees.

It’s here that you can feel the supreme peace of Chobe, resting in a luxury only timed by the bush.

At night from my luxury tent, I could hear the roar of the rapids and watch the sunset, as blossomy pinks and reds peeked through the boughs of trees at the river’s edge.

My favorite part? Exploring the majestic Chobe River with my own guide, Cassius, on our own boat! Together, we got to watch elephants swim across the river from Botswana to Namibia.”

Thank you Megan for the wonderful reviews and making us want to fly away to the Chobe again!
